I’ve been drawing and painting my entire life. My journey into ceramics began during high school, but I was discouraged from pursuing it further and instead studied Sociology in college. Consequently, I spent 15 years working in software development, while continuing to create art on the side. During this time, I explored various mediums such as metalworking and printmaking on fabrics, including custom fabric, pillows, and throw blankets. The process of carving blocks and printing became a meditative practice for me.
One day, on a whim, I decided to take a ceramics hand building class and rediscovered my deep passion for working with clay. This newfound enthusiasm prompted me to apply for a grant to study ceramics in London in 2019, which I was fortunate enough to win. It was during a lecture in London that my life took a transformative turn. A discussion on handmade ceramic tiles resonated deeply with me, shaping my artistic direction forever. While I still utilize blocks for printing on tiles, my primary focus shifted to meticulously hand-painting each tile, resulting in the creation of small contemporary paintings with every brushstroke.
